Mount Stewart, located on the shores of Strangford Lough in County Down, is Northern Ireland's much loved family home. Following a three year, £8 million restoration programme, this 19th century house has been significantly transformed, making it a must-see attraction on the island of Ireland. In 2017, Mount Stewart unveiled the newly restored Central Hall Floor and stunning Rome bedroom.
There are opportunities to see collections of international and national significance with exquisite family collections on show including works by Lawrence, Brock and Stubbs. Visitors have the opportunity to learn more about the Londonderry family and the important role they play in local and international history.
The gardens, voted in the top ten in the world, reflect a rich tapestry of design and planting artistry bearing the hallmark of its creator, Edith, Lady Londonderry. Each of the formal gardens exudes a distinct character and appeal. Further afield, visitors can enjoy the beautifully landscaped and informal grounds surrounding the picturesque lake walk. They can also stroll around miles of new walking trails and discover a landscape lost in time. Homemade delights await in our tea-room and souvenirs in the gift shop.
The Temple of the Winds, with stunning views of the Lough, and Function room can be hired for private dining or conferences. There is a marquee site on the north lawn which can cater for up to 350 people.
