The Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) on the Dublin Docklands
There’s great news for the Irish MICE industry, as The Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) is announced as the winner of a bid for a large international conference in 2026.
The ICCC is one of the longest standing and most well-known on the international chemistry circuit. The event is set to attract up to 1,500 delegates to the city, with guests expected to attend events at both The CCD and Trinity College Dublin.
The event has found the perfect location for 2026 in The CCD, located in the heart of Dublin city, just 15 minutes from Dublin Airport. Operating since September 2010, this architectural landmark is Ireland’s only purpose-built international convention centre and has raised the bar for conference facilities internationally.

Securing the ICCC is a massive coup for The CCD, which worked alongside members of Keynote PCO (who will manage the conference in 2026), Fáilte Ireland and the Dublin Convention Bureau. A smooth collaboration between all parties ensured the successful delivery of the bid effort, led by Professors Sylvia Draper (TCD), Andrea Erxleben (NUI, Galway), Grace Morgan (UCD) and Stuart James (Queen’s University Belfast).
It’s very positive news for inorganic chemistry research in Ireland, as Chair of the Organising Committee Sylvia Draper explains:
“This bid is a testament to the cooperation and resilience of the Irish Chemical Research Community. The success of this bid will raise the profile of coordination chemistry in the minds of the public and national funding bodies, and demonstrate in a very real way how third level institutions are creatively building this country’s global network in a post-Brexit economy.”
Chief Executive of The CCD, Stephen Meehan said: “We are delighted to be chosen as the host venue for ICCC 2026, our first event confirmed for that year. This is a great win for Dublin and The CCD, with a forecasted €2m contribution to the local economy; we look forward to welcoming the inorganic chemistry community to the venue.”
