The Meet in Ireland team had the pleasure of celebrating the launch of the Dublin Royal Convention Centre, Dublin's brand new business event space, along with 400 guests who enjoyed an evening showcasing the venue’s extraordinary facilities.
Located on Ship Street in the heart of Dublin’s city centre, the Dublin Royal Convention Centre is part of the renowned Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Dublin and Velvære Spa, and is surrounded by historic buildings such as Dublin Castle, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Christ Church Cathedral. Yet despite its historic surrounding, the state-of-the-art venue boasts a contemporary and sophisticated design, offering versatile and modern spaces to host various events.
The launch marked a momentous occasion for business tourism in the capital, which is a boost to Ireland's strong reputation for hosting major overseas meetings and conferences. Speaking at the launch event, CEO of Fáilte Ireland Paul Kelly highlighted the importance of this world-class space to business tourism.
“The new Dublin Royal Convention Centre will be a fantastic addition to Dublin’s business tourism offering. Investment in world-class business and conference facilities of this scale is vital to ensuring Ireland can continue to compete and secure major overseas meetings, conferences and events. As each conference delegate is worth up to €1,883 to our economy, the revenue generated by these international events is not only a significant contributor to the Irish business tourism industry but has an enormous impact on the wider tourism ecosystem such as attractions and experiences, transport and food and beverage.”

Offering convenient, functional and flexible facilities, the venue is designed to make events extraordinary, from private boardroom meetings to professional conferences of up to 800 people and gala banquets for 550 guests.
With over 2,020sqm of meeting and event space and capacity for over 1,100 delegates, the new venue spans two floors, with the main plenary room, five break-out rooms and an impressive exhibition space. The complex now offers 20 meeting spaces across the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel and Dublin Royal Convention Centre, as well as outdoor, open-air event space.
The main Douglas Hyde Suite (named after Ireland’s first president) on the ground floor level of the convention centre spans almost 705sqm to facilitate 800 delegates theatre style or up to 550 banquet style, and has spacious pre-conference space perfect for serving refreshments, lunches and pre-dinner drinks. The suite can be divided into two separate suites and has been purposely designed with large scale conferences, exhibitions and events in mind.
The Higgins and Robinson Suites are available on the upper ground floor of the convention centre, again each with substantial break-out space and elegant modern decor.
In addition, guests and delegates can capitalise on privileged access to accommodation with 234 bedrooms available at Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, Dublin, as well as accessing the existing hotel meeting spaces which, added to the new convention centre capacity, brings the total meeting space across the two properties to almost 2,020sqm.
