Seven well-appointed hotels have recently upped their offerings with glamorous refurbishments, perfect for hosting delegates at your next meeting or event.
The Westin
With its enviable city-centre location connecting the two most famous areas of Dublin – Grafton Street and O'Connell Street – The Westin majestically reigns over Westmorland Street. Long a popular haunt for those seeking a classy, accessible stay, the best just got better.
Recent refurbishments costing approximately €5.5 million allow this 5-star hotel to offer beautifully appointed new rooms and suites that exude modern charm and the traditional luxury synonymous with The Westin. A €1 million Presidential Suite is also in the works for those looking for even more opulence.
The newly extended Atrium offers scrumptious Afternoon Tea under the glass dome with the area available for exclusive hire for larger groups. Add in the bespoke artwork featuring Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way, and you have a magical setting for all your MICE needs.
The Westbury
Condé Nast readers awarded The Westbury the title of Best Hotel in Ireland for 2019, and it's easy to see why! Hidden just meters away from Dublin's premium shopping thoroughfare, Grafton Street, this hotel is ideally placed for exploring. Hollywood actors and rock stars call its sumptuous suites home when they are in the city, giving this hotel an added aura of glamour.
Recent decorations and updates make it an even more enjoyable experience, whether you are staying in the stunning Presidential Suite, having afternoon tea in the Gallery or enjoying a bite to eat at Parisian-style Balfes Bistro or the 1930s-inspired Wilde. Finish your evening with a tipple or two at the Sidecar bar while celebrity spotting.
The Shelbourne
Would you like to stay at a hotel so full of history and style that they have made a television series about it? The Shelbourne stands elegantly overlooking Dublin's St Stephen's Green, and has seen it all in its almost 200 years – from rebellion to important meetings.
In honour of its 195th birthday, the hotel received a multi-million spruce-up. The grand entrance and lobby have impressive new marble floors, and the mainstays of Dublin society, The Horseshoe Bar and the Lord Mayor's Lounge, also received a facelift befitting their status.
A new snug style bar, resembling a library, the 1824 bar (the year the Shelbourne opened) offers a hideaway at the top of the grand staircases for those wishing to soak up the grandeur of yesteryear while sipping a cocktail or a whiskey. Or enjoy some fresh air at the mezzanine-level terrace courtyard as you nibble on charcuterie and cheese and indulge in a glass of wine.
Kilkea Castle
Ireland is known for its impressive castles, with many open as hotels or venues for conference and meetings. Kilkea Castle is one such fairytale-style offering, located approximately an hour outside the capital city in the famous horse lands of Kildare. The lush green surroundings give Kilkea, dating back to 1180, the backdrop you dream of when you imagine an Irish castle.
With over €34 million spent on refurbishing and renovating the historic hotel, Kilkea is now reopened to the public and offering even more luxury than before. The newly decorated 11 bedrooms in the main castle building are all unique, with the FitzGerald Suite at the top of the round tower offering a room truly fit for kings and queens. More exquisite rooms are available in the Carriage house and Lodge on the grounds.
With formal dinners in the banquet room, champagne afternoon teas in the drawing room and relaxed evenings to be had in The Keep Bar, your delegates are sure to feel like royalty.
The Clayton Cardiff Lane
Right in the middle of the Docklands area of Dublin, home to Facebook, Linkedin and other major tech companies, The Clayton Cardiff Lane is the place to stay if you want to experience the digital rejuvenation of the city.
Across the road from the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and close to the Dublin Convention Centre, the Clayton offers easily accessible 4-star accommodation for your delegates. With its newly upgraded courtyard and freshly decorated rooms, modern relaxation awaits.
The fully equipped fitness suite, Club Vitae, gives your guests the option of working out or relaxing in the 22-meter pool, unwinding in the sauna or chilling in the jacuzzi. Post-workout, shopping or working pampering is also available at the hotel's spa.
The Spencer Hotel
Only three minutes’ walk from the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD), The Spencer offers delegates comfort and convenience overlooking the River Liffey. With the business and entertainment districts of the city on its doorstep and just a few short stops by LUAS (Dublin Tram) from the shopping hubs of Henry Street and Grafton Street, the Spencer's location is excellent for both business and pleasure.
This 4-star hotel offers modern rooms and suites to suit every client. Their Health and Fitness suite, swimming pool and spa give relaxation and workout time to your delegates all under one roof.
Having just completed the refurbishment of their meeting rooms, The Spencer has technologically advanced, stylish conferencing facilities for up to 155 delegates. The high-speed internet, modern equipment and minimalist rooms allow meetings to flow without fear of distraction or delays. With a dedicated conference and meetings manager on hand, your MICE business is in safe hands.
The Radisson Blu Royal
As if having a prime city-centre location within short walking distance of Grafton Street and the famed cultural quarter of Temple Bar isn't enough to entice your delegates to the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel, they have gone and upped their game.
Renovations, costing in the region of €100 million, are currently being undertaken by the hotel with an impressive 84 new bedrooms, spa and fitness suite and conference facilities almost doubling the hotel's existing footprint. The new bedrooms, adding to the 150 already available, include a two-bedroom Presidential Suite complete with an outdoor hot tub and fire pit.
Further upgrades include a new concept bar and restaurant to compliment the already in-situ Chancery Grill and The Dyflin Bar. But the most significant addition for MICE consumers is the development of the conference facilities, suitable for up to 800 delegates.
With most of the extensive extension due to open in 2022, the Radisson Blu Royal is about to become a big player in the meeting and conference scene in Ireland.
